I never got around to posting this last month, but Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood is heading to a mobile device near you. IGN has a preview of the game over at their site. Included in the preview are a few screenshots.

IGN gives Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood (XBOX Edition) an 8.2 out of 10 review. Their closing comments sound a bit harsh, but if you liked Road to Hill 30 you should like Earned in Blood.

Yahoo Games got a chance to review Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood. They give it about a 4.5 out of 5. The summary:

"If you're looking for a harder and longer version of Brothers in Arms, Earned in Blood fits the bill -- although it can be hard to shake the feeling that you've trudged through these fields and villages before. Still, to complain about originality in a World War II shooter is to take too much for granted. With outstanding AI, well-developed multiplayer options, and atmosphere that's at least in the same league as its illustrious predecessor, Earned in Blood won't fail to impress."

Eurogamer has given Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood for PC an 8 out of 10 review. They give 5 reasons to hate it and 5 reasons to love it. You be the judge.

Let me preface this by saying I was very disappointed in the first game.

The only reason I was interested in this one is that I had gotten a little bit caught up in some of the interviews with the guys from gearbox, and the game was sounding like it solved most of my gripes with the first one.

But some little voice in my head kept going on about how disappointed I was with the first game, and I could never convince myself it would be worth a purchase.

Enter: Gamerang. Awesome. I put it on my choice list, it's here.

The bad news: It sucks. They fixed nothing from the first game. Things they said wouldn't happen anymore still happen all the time.

1UP.com has given the PC and XBOX version of Earned in Blood a score of 9.5 out of 10. Another solid score for UBIsoft.

"Although Blood looks noticeably better than its progenitor, and runs equally as well on a modest rig, there's no denying that the game lacks all the bump-mapped trappings of a "next-gen" title. But the deficiency here is strictly a technical one, having little to do with aesthetics, art direction, or overall visual effect. That is to say, when the bullets are flying and mortar shells are punishing the earth mere feet away from you, throwing up dirt and debris into your "eye," this game looks unbelievably good. What makes spraying your Browning Assault Rifle so gratifying isn't just seeing all your stray bullets kick up dust as they miss their intended target, but also hearing its high-caliber roar. In fact, what the game lacks in flashy visual tech, it more than makes up for in the audio department where happiness is the crisp crack of a bolt-action sniper rifle. You've got to live this game loud. Even after playing every WWII shooter under the sun, it's no overstatement to say that Blood has the best and most visceral audio effects in the business."

TeamXBOX gave Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood a 9.6 out of 10 in their review of the game. Their bottom line:

"In only two console titles, Gearbox and Ubisoft have pretty much mastered the WWII shooting genre. In terms of presentation, technical gameplay, graphics, and audio, it’s nearly impossible to rise above Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood in any area, which makes me think that this franchise will be the one to watch in the next generation of consoles. If campaign-style action heavy on tactics

Gamespy had a chance to review Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood. The conclusion:

"While Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood feels a bit too much like its predecessor in many ways, that's like saying "The Godather 2" was a bit too similar to "The Godfather." They're both excellent in their own right, and there were enough changes made to the gameplay and multiplayer to recommended Earned in Blood to anyone who loved Road to Hill 30, as well as anyone who didn't get a chance to play it. The best console shooter of 2005 just got knock off of the perch by its successor."

Brothers in Arms Earned in Blood for XBOX and PC are shipping in the US. The Playstation2 version of Earned in Blood is hoped to be released by the end of the month.

TeamXBOX has a new story about the artificial intelligence found in Brothers in Arms: Earned in Blood. Included are a couple of screenshots and a video. Interesting.

Gearbox prez, Randy Pitchford, was intereveiwed recently by gamercc.com. A few highlights:

"[Earned in Blood] is actually both bigger and better than we originally had planned."

"I've seen the Call of Duty 2 stuff and look forward to playing it, but what we're doing is a far step ahead of that."

Q: "When will Gearbox do something else besides war themed games?"
A: "Yes! We're working on some new things, but are not ready to announce them at this time."
